  • Develop support requirements that are consistently related to design and to each other
  • Acquire the required support
  • Provide the required support during the operational phase at minimum cost

The department provides ILS management and analyses for both current and future vehicle programmes in accordance with military standards and industry best practice.

The key services of the department are:
  • Spares and Life Cycle Cost Modelling

  • This group provides spares modelling and life cycle cost estimates for the complete life of the product. The group also conducts Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA) to identify the most cost effective support concept. Development of supply support databases is also a function of this group.

  • Reliability and Maintainability Analysis

  •   Quantitative and qualitative studies are carried out by this group to identify the reliability and maintainability characteristics of systems and equipment. The group uses both theoretical analysis techniques and empirical data as part of the process.

  • Logistic Support Analysis (LSA)

  •   LSA is an iterative analytical process by which the logistic support resources necessary for a system are identified, evaluated and optimised depending on customer requirements.

  • Technical Information

  •   This group is responsible for technical information preparation and delivery to the customer. Technical information can be provided in a number of mediums ranging from paper based technical publications to fully Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM).

  • ILS Data Management

  •   The ILS data management group is responsible for the development, support and maintenance of the core logistic data information system. This system provides a suite of integrated software databases and analysis packages that can be tailored to suit the needs of each project.
