The capability of Alvis Vickers is derived from combining the skills and resources of the Alvis Vehicles business with those of Vickers Defence Systems. The combined company of Alvis Vickers Limited (AVL) offers a comprehensive product and support capability to its worldwide customer base. The new integrated company will set up a Centre for Vehicle Technology at the former Alvis Vehicles site in Telford, a Centre for Electronics and Systems Technology at a new site in Leeds, and consolidation of Alvis Vickers Limited's central support functions at its main site in Newcastle.

| Alvis Vickers yesterday signed an agreement with international office and business park developer Akeler Developments Limited for a 30,000 sq ft new development at Leeds Valley Park. Alvis Vickers has customised the building to meet its requirements and is the first company to sign an agreement on this site. |
